The EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting in East Sarajevo gathered 57 students from 35 european cities. This event was special because the participants were chairpersons or board members of their respective local committees, as well as the international board and the representatives from international teams. It was an great opportunity to discuss different topics with some of the most experienced EESTECers. We all participated in well organized working sessions designed to exchange knowledge and experience between the LCs.
I have participated in a Human Resources Training by EESTEC Trainers Edita Milisic and Mojca Bertoncelj. This gave me new insights into this topic, that I could implement in the JLC Karlsruhe recruiting strategy. Additionally I was part of the Fundraising for Western Europe Working Session by the very experiences Kevin van der Mark and Moritz Knüppel. I learned a great deal from the discussion and this experience will surely help in my FR work for our next major project.
Edu Day was something special. We gathered in the main hall of the University of East Sarajevo and displayed brochures and goodies from our respective universities. Everybody had a chance to walk around and talk about different degree programs and study opportunities at Europe’s best engineering schools. The local students could also join us and investigate different possibilities of studying abroad as well as ask more about EESTEC in general. We shared our experiences with them and had fun at the same time. Later on began the EESTEC Talks. The participants had 7 minutes to talk about a motivating topic in some way connected to EESTEC before an audience of EESTECers. It was truly a new experience for me and a beautiful one. I enjoyed the amazing speeches by Dragi, Michal, Sasa, Mojca, Celia, Erne, Filip and Dusan. They all had very good points and made me think about many important issues. They motivated me to work harder and achieve the things that I set forth to achieve in JLC Karlsruhe, my studies and my personal life. I myself was asked to say a few words and I’m very happy how it turned out. The smiling faces of my most dear friends looking back at me during the talk with always stay with me. This gave a huge boost to my inner motivation regarding my work in Karlsruhe.
Afterwards we had two General Meetings. These are the most formal and professional meetings in EESTEC, held by the General Assembly. The GA is consisted of the representative from all LCs present. The most important decisions are made through discussion and voting. As a representative of a Junior Local Committee, I didn’t have the right to vote, but I actively took part in the discussions. This was a very interesting experience for me and I’m looking forward to participating again at the EESTEC Congress in Belgrade in April 2016.
See you there!
